P.B.S Holiday Blogging Challenge - Day 1 - Bonus Acitivty

For the Bonus Activity in our P.B.S Holiday Blogging Challenge we had to recommend a Rainbow send ride and explain in 25 words why you would recommend that ride. I choose the Bumper Cars and I recommended it to Mataio.

P.B.S Holiday Blogging Challenge - Day 1 - Activity 2

For the P.B.S Blogging Challenge Activity 2 was to create a DLO telling people what is the minimum height to ride the stratosphere at Rainbows End. We also had to write why we think there a height restriction. I learnt that you have to be at 150 cm to ride the Very Extreme Stratosphere.

P.B.S Holiday Blogging Challenge - Day 1 - Activity 1

The Student Leaders and I have created a Holiday Blogging Challenge for LS2 and LS1. We have put a a lot of effort into it. Our theme is based on Auckland. For day 1 the activity was based on Rainbow send. Activity 1 was to use google maps and find out where Rainbow send is located. We also had to find out how much is it for a family pass and how much is it for my family to go. I found out that taking my family (2 adults, 4 kids) to Rainbow send cost $438.00.

Term 3 Dancing Production

Panmure Bridge School is 60 years old and by celebrating this event we are dancing through the decades. Each classroom is given a song each with a specific year. In LS2 we have the 70's and 80's songs which are 'Stay'n Alive' by the Bee Gees, 'I See Red' by Split Enz and 'Footloose' by Kenny Loggins. I think dancing to old day songs is amazing because the clothes we wear and the moves we dance to. LS2 has put an effort into this dancing. Yesterday the whole school performed their dances to their families and friends. Pasifika and Kapa Haka also performed their dances . Both groups did a good job performing. Today we will be performing again and will put a lot of effort into it. Thank you to Zoe for all her hard work teaching us the dances.

Kiwi Can

Today LS2 went to Kiwi Can. During Kiwi Can we played three games which was Hand Soccer, 10 down and Objects. In Hand Soccer we were first splited into two groups. We each given numbers from 1 to 13. Mr Malo had to call out two numbers and those two numbers had to try and get a goal between the two cones with their hands. It was a very challenging games because we had to use our hand to get the goal. My favourite game was Objects because it was a very creative game. In this game we were splited into four teams. Mr Malo and Mrs Latoia had to put an object in the middle and each group had to figure out anything to do with that object for example one of the objects was a hula hoop. What my group did with it was pretending it was a basketball hoop. I think LS2 could play this game again.

Elections - Kahoot

For our last election task we had to create a kahoot quiz with at least 10 question based on the elections. Thank you to Fraidons group for sharing their kahoot with LS2. One of the questions we had to answer was who is the leader for the Labour party. I think learning about elections is amazing and enjoyable.

Critical Analysis - Goody Goody Gum Drops

This week and last week LS2 has been focusing on Food Advertising. We learnt what the spokesperson is on food items for example on Coco Pops there is a monkey mascot and on Frosties there is a Tiger mascot. We have also learnt the slogans of some food advertising. For example the slogan for Mc Donald's is I'm lov'n it. Today I have finished my critical analysis. I have based my critical analysis on Goody Goody Gum Drops. I have labeled all the visual and attractive details from the ice cream so that people could buy it.

Scale Drawing

This term we have been focusing on Scale Drawing. We have been learning how to draw a butterfly using a grid. Scale Drawing is when you print a picture you want (for example a dog) and enlarge it by drawing the picture a bit bigger. First before drawing our picture we had to draw a grid over our printed picture and then do the same to our bigger paper but twice the size. During this term of learning Scale Drawing we used ratio to find the correct spaces of our picture. I decided to draw Lebron James because I think he's an inspirational basketball player. It was a bit hard to draw him especially the eyes, ears, mouth and nose. I think I have done a really good peice of Scale Drawing.

Political Party Leaders

For the election activities I have created a DLO about the Political Party Leaders. I was researching about Bill English, Jacinda Ardern, James Shaw, Winston Peters, Marama Fox and David Seymour. I learnt what Party they represent and information about them. I learnt Winston Peters was a former member of parliament in the National Party in 1978. This task was very interesting because I didn't know that David Seymour was the youngest Political Leader.

Election Results 2017

Today LS2 was discussing about the what a coalition is and how it works. Tiava, Zane, Mataio and I learnt  that a coalition is when the little group of parties is aligned with the bigger parties to gain more seats for them to become the Prime Minister. For example the Green Party has joined the Labour Party to have more seats in Parliament. Currently there is no Prime Minister of NZ because NZ First has not chosen their coalition.

Cross Country

This term LS2 has been practicing and preparing for Cross Country. We have been learning how to paste ourselves. Before and after running we always have to stretch. It is important to stretch because it will help loosen your muscles. We have been running five laps or more around our school fields which I think is good. We have been practicing two times a week. On Wednesday which was the School Cross Country. Everybody was excited and bit neverous. The Cross Country went in year groups so first was the new entrance kids and went up to the year seven and eight. The new entrance kids were running 1 lap. They were amazing. They didn't give up even though it was muddy. Girls were been told to go first then boys. They year seven and eight did five laps. Five laps was lots so everybody remembered to paste themselves and to breathe in and out while running. Before running everybody were stretching. I am a year seven boy which meant I had to do five laps. When I crossed the finish line I was told I came fifth. I was very proud of myself and will do better next time.

Princess Bride - Character Introduction

During the past few weeks Mrs Kirkpatrick and LS2 were studying a movie called The Princes Bride. We learnt the type of shots of the character. During the movie there was protagonist (goodie) and the antagonist (baddie). We also learnt what the characters role is in the movie and the type of clothing they are wearing. Buttercup was wearing White Rolled-up t-shirt which means he is a protagonist. The DLO above shows you what I learnt about the Characters in the movie.

Democracy In New Zealand

For the last activity for our Elections task I created a DLO on Democracy in New Zealand. In my DLO I have made a flow chart. I have included the definition of Democracy and the site I got the definition from. I also included what "Demo" means and "Cracy" means. I learnt that Democracy is originated in Greece.

Election - Helen Clark

For our second Election activity we had to research a Prime Minister from the Past. I did Helen Clark. I learnt that Helen Clark was New Zealand's fifth longest-serving Prime Minister. I think Helen Clark has the a splendid and proud leader because she was the first Labour Leader to win three consecutive elections. The DLO above shows you a profile of Helen Clark and how she changed New Zealand.

Election - Jigsaw

For the election that is happening now every intermediate students are studying about election and what happens in a election. We have learnt all the parties that is entered in the election . In LS2 we have been working collaboratively on a activity called Election Jigsaw. We had to name all the political parties and name the leader, the electorate (what place they are representing), a picture of them and the picture of the party logo. For example Nationals leader is Bill English his electorate is Cultha-South land. LS2 have found out that the two main parties are Labour and National.

Learning to use synonyms

Today for writing we were focusing on synonyms. A synonym is a word that means exactly the same as another word for example It was so hot outside. Another word for hot could be boiling. Above shows the DLO Freeman and I have made about Synonyms. It shows you powerful words Freeman and I have used. I learnt that another word for funny is bizarre. It was a bit hard because there were a lot of synonyms for us to chose from.
