Why is it important to keep oral storytelling alive?

Storytelling has been passed down from many generations. It is important to keep storytelling alive so that people learn about the tradition and the culture.

Today for our Myths and Legend task Tiava and I researched and also watched videos about storytelling. We had watched videos on why is is so important to keep oral storytelling. First we had to write down important words we found in the videos we watch and list them down. After that we had to write a 25 summary with words we listed. From watching the videos I have learnt the importance of storytelling.

How Maui Slowed The Sun

This term for reading we are focusing on myths and legends. For out task today we had to go on Storyboardthat and create a comic strip about how Maui slowed the sun. We made this comic strip to show you rather than telling you. For this task we had to work in partners so I worked with Tiava. First Tiava and I had to read on how Maui slowed the sun to help us create our comic strip and make it look good. It was really amazing creating our comic strips because there were a lot of diffrent items to use. The problem was finding the settings for our scene because most of the photo were modern. What I learnt from the story How Maui Slowed The Sun is that Maui and his family had to rush doing all there chores before the sun sets.
