As part of Reading today LS2 have been making bar graphs of their progression on Read Theory. Some of us did a bar graph which had our 2017 & 2018 progression which is what I did. Read theory is helpful site to learn new words and to help comprehend questions. On my bar graph it shows my progression in February, July, and November in 2017 & 2018. As you can see my bar graph looks like a step which shows how I have highly improved from 2017 and 2018. When I first started in 2017 I was on grade 3 and now I am on grade 11.
I am a Year 8 student at Panmure Bridge School in Auckland, NZ. I am in Learning Space 2 and my teachers are Ms Kirkpatrick and Mrs Anderson.

Summer Learning Journey - Week 2 - Day 4 - Bonus Activity
For this Summer Learning Journey I had to complete a story about working as a nurse on a large medical large ship in War. I have to write at least 8-10 sentences to completed the story.
One day you are walking along the deck of the ship when you hear a loud bang. You start to run as you see smoke coming from the far end of the ship. You run towards the room where your patients are waiting to receive treatment from the doctor. Just as you arrive at the door to their room you hear another loud bang and you.....

You are running to get help from other nurses but suddenly you hear a double bang. You scream as loud as a girl is happy on christmas day "someone help please". You see two of your other nurse friends running rapidly towards you like rhinos. Your friends and you quickly run to a safety spot. You suddenly hear a patient screaming "help please". You and your two nurse friends try get to the other side to help the patient. As you and your friends get to the room your patient is gone. You panick and fall to the ground. Suddenly you hear a bang noise from the room next to you. You and your friends quickly run to the next room and all you can see is fire on the patients bed. You and your nurse buddies try to smother the fire with a sheet. Luckily the fire stops and you and you friends are safe from the fire.

Summer Learning Journey - Week 2 - Day 4 - Activity 2
For this Summer Learning Journey I have completed Actvitiy 2, Day 4 for Week 2. For this activity I had to go on this link to find a list of VC winners from World War 2.VC means Victoria Cross. VC is a special medal awarded to those mens who participated in World War 2 and did unique things during the War. I decided to choose a men name James Allen Ward. James Ward was the first New Zealander airman to win the VC medal. Ward joined the the RNZAF in July 1940. I have learnt that James Ward was born in Wanganui where he was educated at Wanganui Technical College. James Ward was awarded his VC medal because of his braveness. Jame Wards Vickers Wellington bomber was set on fire by an enemy fighter plane. Ward decided to climb out of the plane and onto the burning wing and tryed to smother the fire, but unfortanetly he couldn't block the leaking petrol pipe. I think James Ward was a brave New Zealander airman.

Today for the Summer Learning Journey I have completed activity 2 for day 3, week 2. For this activity I had to imagine that I was alive in the 1930s. What could you have done to help these families? On my blog I had to list three different ways that I could raise funds for families to help them buy food and clothing. I had to be creative as I can with my fundraising ideas!
First Idea - Car Wash - Ask my friends or families if I could wash their car
Second Idea - Dance Performance - I could do a dance perfomance in a family gathering (like family reunion)
Third Idea - Food eating competetion - I could race other people at eating fast food

Today for the Summer Learning Journey I have completed one of the Summer Learning Journey activities. For this activity I had to tell what I do when I want to relax or when I am de-stress.
When I want to relax I go to my friends house and play master (basketball game) or play rugby. Playing with my friends makes me feel better. If my friends are out for the day I would usually watch T.V.

For the Summe Learning Journey activity I had to watch a movie trailer called Gold Rush. After we had watch the trailer we had to write what we think about the movie. This movie contains no dialog. We also have write if we would enjoy watching a silent film.
In the trailer it shows a lot of characters and each character has its own unqie role. I think the movie is about these unique characters going on adventures and chasing dreams. I wouldnt watch this movie because the quality is terrible. I dont think I could watch a whole video with no dialog.

For the Summer Learning activity I leanrt that women in Saudi Arabia weren't allowed to vote until 2015. I think that it is unfair for women because womens opinion matters and they a very affective to others. Hopefully in the future everyone has equall rights. For example womens should get paid the same amount as men.

After reading it I had to I had to give my oponion if I like it and how it makes me feel. I really liked this poem because it Ryhmed and when I read it out it sound amazing. As I was reading the second paragraph I felt a bit sad but I think this a very proud and amazed poem.
In Flanders Fields
BY JOHN MCCRAE
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

I listed to a couple of Waiata and read the lyrics as well. The Waiata I found more interesting in was E te iwi e because we sing it at our school in assembly and because I know how to sing it. I love it when the junior Kapa Haka group sings it as well.

Bonus Activity: Musical Festivals – Matatini
In New Zealand, a huge festival is held every two years, called Te Matatini. This performing arts festival celebrates the tikanga (culture or customs) of Māori. Kapa Haka groups from around New Zealand are invited to attend the festival and each group gives a 25-minute performance. The performances are judged and the best teams win prizes.
Watch these three clips from previous Te Matatini festivals.
Te Iti Kahurangi
Te Puku o Te Ika
On your blog, rank the performances from your favourite (#1) to least favourite (#3) and tell us why you gave them the ranking that you did.
I think the first one (Tamatea Arikinui) was the best one for me because they were moving a lot which is good. #1
I think the second one (Te Iti Kahurangi) was my my second best one because I liked their singing. #2
I think the third one (Te Puku o Te Ika) was my least favorite one because they didn't move that much. #3
