For my fourth personal research challenge Sanujan, Miki, Carl, and I worked on a collaborative DLO based on the main disease that happened in WW1. Did you know that the main disease in World War 1 was Trench Foot is a medical condition affecting a person's foot in which the top layer of the skin becomes black and dies which is caused by the wet conditions. Sanujan, Miki, Carl, and I have worked collaboratively together to finish the DLO.
I am a Year 8 student at Panmure Bridge School in Auckland, NZ. I am in Learning Space 2 and my teachers are Ms Kirkpatrick and Mrs Anderson.

Armistice Day|Personal Challenge Pt 3
Today for our Personal Research Challenge LS2 was given a task which was to create a question chart about World War 1. What we were to do is write down a variety of questions that we want to know about WW1 on a piece of paper.
After that we were to chose one best question and were to research about it. We've completed our first question and this blog post is about our second question. What Kind Of Food Did Soldiers Eat During WW1? We found out that soldiers eat egg biscuits, bully beef and more. (Also known as Corned Beef). For this task I worked with Sanujan and Renier

Armistice Day|Personal Research Challenge Pt 1
Today for our Personal Research Challenge LS2 was given a task which was to create a question chart about World War 1. Fraidoon (partner) and I have questions such as: How long did soldiers train for?, what kind of food did they?, how many soldiers died from firing squads? etc. The question Fraidoon and I researched more about was: How were soldiers punished for not following their orders? Fraidoon and I have learnt that if soldiers were drunk on post their punishment could be death but it can be tied to a rope for 2 hours. Did you know that soldiers were also sent to court and if they were found guilty for breaking one of the rules they were shot. Being killed and tied by rope wasn't the only punishment. Soldier were also put on cleaning duties meaning they were to clean the dishes and also the toilets which was more worse than cleaning the dishes.

Armistice Day Illustration - World War 1
Today, since it is nearly armistice day Miki and I have created another illustration based on the day after World War 1. After World War 1 ended the field war empty and all that was left was crosses. Miki and I have also included a little sentence that tells what our picture is talking about.

Armistice Day Drawing
This week on Sunday we have a Armistice Day. Today I have drawn an illustration that shows Armistice Day. The reason that I chose just Black and grey is that to show the illustration was old. The hardest thing to draw was the persons lower part of his body. Miki and I have collaboratively worked together to finish this illustration.

P.B.S Armistice Day Commemoration
Today Panmure Bridge held a commemoration for Armistice Day. This marks 100 years, since the first Armistice day. We remember this every year on November the 11th when the guns fell silent. We commemorate this to remember those who fought for their country during World War 1. We were lucky to have a member from the NZ Defense Force join us. During this commemoration I read the prayer at the start of the commemoration, Tiava and Jeremiah (head boy and head girl) read the ode, and Ms Kirkpatrick (deputy principal) read In Flanders Fields.
During the commemoration we were silent for a minute to remember the soldiers who died during World War 1. There were also 3 olive trees planted to represent the past, present, and future. To remember this event poppies with the signature of the students will be placed on the fence in our school. After our commemoration we had the member from the NZ defense force visit our room where he spoke to us about his career. I learnt that we he was 19 when he went to Afghanistan to help out the citizens by looking after the schools, and kids.
Max Gimblett is a New Zealand artist who's art influences people all around the World. He is well known for for his drawings, and paintings. Max Gimblett is famous for painting quatrefoil which is a decorative design of four lobes or leaves. Max has done a lot of painting works based on quatrefoils. Max Gimlet has done an amazing job to make New Zealand a wonderful place with all the quatrefoil shapes on buildings and artwork for example in 2015 there were 7,000 brass quatrefoils that were placed on the outside of St David's Church in Auckland which was known as the Art Of Remembrance. We have studied this work and it inspired our poppy design.

Armistice Day Collage
Since it's nearly Armistice day we were to make a collage with photos that is based on Armistice day. We were to include photos that has people celebrating Armistice day including soldiers and people from around the country. We put photos of people celebrating from New Zealand, Germany, and Australia. Jack, Fraidoon, and I have made a collage also including newspaper talking about how the war is over. We have worked collaboratively together to finish this off. We have learnt that the Armistice Day was signed on the 11th of November 1918 on the 11th hour. This is signed between the allies of World War 1 and Germany. It was signed at Compiègne in France.
