Kiwisport - Boxing
Today was our first session of Kiwisport. For Kiwisport this term we have Boxing. Our coach was Pax. Before doing any kind of activity or exercise we were to learn her 3 Commandment/rules. Those commandments were respect, discipline, and be safe. We have to respect others around us and also respect the equipment, we have to be discipline meaning being responsible for our own actions and also being humble at all times, and the last commandments is to be safe in the environment around us. Another rule that was stated is that if one person mucks around the whole group gets the punishment . After talking about the rules and commandments we started off with a warm up. For this warm up we were to partner up with a buddy and then either partner 1 or 2 (we were to pick who was number 1 and 2) was to try and touch their partners knees. It was hard for me because Julian (my partner) was a very competitive person, but at the end I won. The rules were, if you were tagged on the knee you were to a bur-pee. We then changed it to tagging the shoulder. This was pretty easy since we didn't need to bend down. Soon, Pax taught us the stunt in boxing which she called the rock. Basically all you had to do is put one leg forward and one leg back. Then you were to go down like you were doing the haka. This will help you balance properly. We then learnt a move called Jab-Cross. We were to jab with our left hand and cross with our left hand. I learnt that when you cross you have to twist your right leg so you don't go falling when cross punching. I enjoyed today's session and can't wait for next weeks session. Thank you to Pax for coaching us and Mrs Anderson for joining and supervising us.
