Maths Problem - Radius & Diameter

Today we played the Radius and Diameter game on Khad Academy and we were to make a DLO with three of the problems and explain how we solved the three questions. For one of the questions it says: If the radius is 7.5 what is the diameter. This was pretty easy because all you had to do was times 7.5 by 2. The answer was 15. There were 2 others that we explained in our DLO. If you don't know what the radius and the diameter is well the radius is half the circle and the diameter is times the radius. I have worked together with Carl and Miki to create this DLO.

Maths Problem | Fence Posts

As part of finishing all the previous maths task one of them were to find out how many corner posts and regular posts would Savelina have to buy to enclose two adjacent paddocks. We found this task quite easy and hard at the same time because there were some bits that we struggled with, like writing a blurb in the DLO. Although in the end we solved it. We learnt a new word, adjacent. It means something or someone next to each other. For this activity, I worked with Jack, Sanujan, and Fraidoon.

Maths Problem | Fraidoon & Alex's Salary

This week for maths we are busy finishing off work and posting it on our blog. For one of our maths task we were given a maths problem about salary. I worked collaboratively with Sanujan, Jack and Julian. At first we were doubting each other of which answers we were right or wrong. Then we went over the maths problem with Ms Kirkpatrick. At the end we were all wrong but we learnt a lesson by Occam Razor that If there is no evidence to the contrary, the simplest answer is correct. In this problem we tryed to add up all the big numbers without using the calculator and and after we've got our answers it turned out to be right. I think next time we need to agree with each others opinions.

Math Problem - Electives

As part of our math task we were solving out a math problem given by Miss Kirkpatrick. I was working collaboratively with Mikihiro and Fraidon. For this problem we used our multiplication, division and subtraction skills and were lucky enough to get the right answers. At first we were struggling because we didn't understand it so we read it twice and wrote all the key points from the problem. We took a lot of risk with solving out how many people take elective C,D,E,F. After trying a few times we figured the answers out. Today I learnt how to use my times table facts to find a fraction of a set.

2014 Auckland Marathon - Term 1 Week 2

As part of our math this week Ms Kirkpatrick gave us a math problem to solve. It was based on the Auckland Marathon for 2014 and 2017. We have been looking at the average times for the full and half for 2014 and 2017. As part of the math problem we also had to search up the winners time for 2017. In this math problem we did a lot of subtracting which was pretty hard. We have created two DLO's for the half and full marathon.

Maths Problem - It Pays To Win

Today for maths Mrs Kirkpatrick gave us a maths problem to solve. Sylis and I solved question one, two and three. Soon we had to make a DLO only on question three. Doing this maths problem we had to use our timetables knowledge and our addition and multiplication knowledge to solve the maths problem. It was a bit difficult to solve it out because we had to add and multiply big numbers. I had a very awesome time solving our this maths problem.

Maths Problem

Today for maths we were looking at BEDMAS which stands for Bracets, Exponents, Division and Multiplication, Addition and Subtraction. We were given four equations of bedmas to solve out. It was pretty easy for me. After that we were told to make a DLO of either the equation we had to solve out or make a DLO about what BEDMAS is. Mataio and I did a DLO of the equation that we were given. It was hard at the start to solve out the equation but we got help from Mrs Kirkpatrick (teacher).
