Tech Reflection|Digital Charity Box|Homeless

For one of the graphics task I was to create a charity box on a DLO. This was meant to be done as a charity box but in a digital version. As my charity box is based on homelessness I included phrases that says: please donate to the homeless and make someone's day happy. I have also included a photo of a homeless person to make my DLO more attractive.

Tech Reflection|Certificate Charity Box|Graphics

For one of the tech task we were to make a DLO with all the activities we have been doing this term for graphic. This included the activities we posted on our blog, our t-shirt printing, and our charity box. I have included nearly everything I've done this term. I am really proud of myself for finishing a lot of work. Some activities are not up on this DLO since I couldn't find them.

Tech Reflection|Production Plan of Charity Box

Today was our 5th week of Tech at Tamaki College. Tech at Tamaki College has been going great. In Mr Pineda's group (graphics) we were to finish off our charity box. I have already finished my charity box last week and today my task was to complete a google draw on the steps, materials tools, and the time on creating the charity box. It took me 20 to 30 minutes of painting my charity box which is pretty long. Today I also painted/printed on my t-shirt.

Tech Reflection - Charity Box Design Brief

Today was our 3rd session of Graphics for tech. Our tech teacher was Mr Pineda. Our task today was to complete a document that had the 5w's about our charity boxes. Some of the basic questions are: What are we going to design? What is the design going to be used for? and Why are we making this design? We also started making our Charity box out of cardboard paper. I have designed my charity box by adding a shelter since my charity box is based on the homeless. I have included a shelter because as you know homeless don't have any shelter to live in and they need it. On my charity box I have also included a writing saying Help The Homeless.

Kiwican Reflection

Image result for kiwi can

Today was our 3rd session of Kiwican. For Kiwican our topic is Respect. At school we are to respect ourselves, teachers, and other students. For our energizer we played a game called Sensible. This is played within a circle. Ms Paige (kiwi can teacher) put us into number from 1 to 4. Then Ms Paige called out a number and those numbers were to run around the circle and then try and steal the ball that was in the middle of the circle. We were to show respect in this game by not pushing to others and also respecting that there are other around us. After that we talked more about the rules of our school and if we either disagree with or agree with them. People disagreed that drink fizzing is not allowed. I agreed with this rule because fizzy drinks can lead to heart disease and since most students are active during the day and play a lot of sports we should eat and drink healthy. Soon we played Bus Stop for our activity. For this game we were put into groups of 6. Then either Mr Matt (kiwi can teacher) or Ms Paige were to give a letter. For example if the letter was 'L' we were to figure out a boy, girl, animal, food, and color that started with the letter 'L'. It was pretty easy for me since I played this game nearly every day with my siblings. At the end we were given points for showing or having Respect, Participation, Encouragement, Positive Attitude and Teamwork. We got 24.5 points which we are happy of.

Kiwisport Reflection

Today was our 2nd session of Boxing for Term 4. Our coach was Pax Patel. For our warm up game we got into a circle and practiced what we practiced last week which was jab, cross. When jabbing we were to put our hands straight like a vertical line. When cross punching you are to twist your feet which will give you power when you go up for the cross punch. After that we learnt how to hook with our left and right hand. When hooking we were to bend our arm at a 90 degrees Angle, rotate our body, turn our lead foot, bend our knees, and then punch. I learnt that when punching a hand the other is supposed to be kept guarded, so you don't get punched. We then learnt how to uppercut. We did the same process as hook punch, but instead we were to punch upwards. I learnt that every move we do such as: jab, cross, hook, and uppercut we are to always keep always guard our face not matter what punch you are doing. After that we put to practice all of the moves.

Tech Reflection - Analysis Chairty Collection Box

For reflection we had a third task which was to plan our charity box and how it would look like. In this analysis it includes what our letters are going to look like what slogan were going to use and also shapes for our charity box. As you can see I've decided to make my charity box about homeless so my slogan is "sharing is caring". The colors I'm going to use in my charity box is red, yellow, white, orange, and blue.

Tech Reflection - 3D Shape Game

Today for tech Mr Pineda (tutor teacher) set a game based on 3D shapes. Examples of 3D shapes are cuboid, sphere, cone prism etc. For this activity there 3 games and for one of the game we were to see how many faces, edges, and vertices there were in the shape given. For example if the questions says how many vertices does a cuboid the answer will of course be 8. There are lives in this game and if you get a incorrect answer you loose 1 life. There is a maximum of 4 lives. I really enjoyed this game and hope to play it again next time.

Tech Reflection - Art

Today was our first session of art for Term 4. Today were to finish off coloring or drawing our charity box. My charity box is based on helping the homeless. In my charity box I have written things based on homeless such as: Donate, Share The Love, Help The Pore etc. I have done my charity box based on helping the homeless because how many homeless people living in Auckland (800 homeless people).

Tech Reflection - Charity Box Vocab Saying

As part of our Graphic tasks we were to fill up the four clouds with the vocab that was written on the box below. As you can see the topics were slogans, donate, topic, and shape. Some of the vocab we were to write down I haven't heard of such as fork out and stump up. Other than that I found this task easy and also fun. I also got marker a merit for this task which I was surprisingly amazed by. So far graphics with Mr Pineda is going great and I can't wait to do more of his amazing activities.

Tech Reflection - Decorative Letters|Names

Today for tech we were to finish our decorative letters of our names. I know my letters looks different but there supposed to because we were to be creative and draw something else for example instead of drawing an 'i' I have drawn a candle and instead of drawing a 'L' I have drawn a tree drunk. Mr Pineda who is our graphic teacher has kindly laminated this for us. After every task we do we get marked. The markings are Achieved, Merit, and Excellence. For this piece of art I got marked Excellence which I was really happy about.

Tech Reflection - Graphics

This week was our second session of graphics for the second rotation. The year 8 B (my group) are doing graphics with Mr Pineda. Today we have been drawing and designing our names and some students are up to coloring. During this we have learnt to shade letters in our names and also how to use toondoos. For our toondoos we were to make a comic strip explaining what the graphic expectations are. One of the graphic expectations are: taking your time and don't rush your work. Hopefully next week everyone and get to coloring their names.

Kiwi Can Reflection - T3 WK8

Image result for kiwi can

Today was our third to last session of Kiwi Can with Mr Matt and Miss Lily (tutors). First we discussed what out theme and topic were. Out theme for this theme is resilience. Resilence means bouncing back from difficult situations. I can use this quality in my rugby games and training because sometimes I just don't want to get up early in the morning and go to my games. Our topic is perseverance which means not giving up and being determined to succeed in something. I can show this quality during schools tests and also trying my best to be a good school leader (as I am a manaikalani leader) to younger students. After talking about our theme and topic we moved onto our energizer which was called tangled. This game was one of my favorites because there was running included in the game. Basically you have to link up with other people but you don't link straight away, you are to tag someone first. When you are linked up with people, the end people who are at the end of tangled line are to tag others. Our activity was called invisible tag. This sounds weird but we enjoyed it. First we were splitted into two groups. Then either Miss Lily or Mr Matt were to call a certain amount of people to run onto the court. After that Mr Matt or Miss Lily will call out which tea gets the ball (but there's actually no ball which is why it's called invisible tag). The person with the invisible ball runs and the opposition team tries and tag the person with the invisible ball. Who ever tags the person with invisible ball get's the invisible ball and runs to the end of the court only if he/she doesn't get taged.

Kiwi Can Reflection

Today was our 4th session of Kiwi Can and Mr Matt was our Kiwi Can tutor. First we talked about the theme and the topic for this week. Our theme is still resilience which means bouncing back from difficulties or challenges. Our topic for this week is problem solving. Problem solving is when you work together with someone or in a team to share ideas and find the best solution to a difficult problem. We also talked about how we can problem solve in a maths class. For example if a person tries to copy you in a maths problem you can solve it by telling the teacher or if your kind you can help them. After discussing the topic and theme then we moved onto on our energizer. Our energizer game was called rock paper scissors. In this game you are to rock paper scissors with someone and if you loose you are to go on knees. Once you are on your knees you are to verse someone who's on there knees. If you loose then you sit out of them game. If you win and your on your knees then you get back up and verse another person. This game was played until last person standing. Next we played our activity which was the best Kiwi Can game. This game was called hand soccer which is similar to soccer but you have to use your hands to control the ball. I really enjoyed this game because it made us fatigued which was good.

Tech Reflection - Cooking

It is the last week of the term meaning we will not learn anything for the nest two week (holidays). Today we cooked Meat Pies with Mrs Tuipolotu. It was interesting to see how people were cooping with challenges of cooking the meat pies because there were some onions that were over cooked and some of the ham was not cooked fully so they had to cook the ham for another 5-10 minutes. At the end everyone was happy of what they cooked and enjoyed their Meat Pie. We are looking forward to see what were going to cook for next terms sessions.

Here is the Recipe:

Step 1 - Dice the onion, ham, and mince

Step 2 - Fry the onion first, and then ham, and mince

Step 3 - Add the sauce, soya, sauce, and cornflour, mix herbs

Step 4 - Place the pastry on the round baking tin foil

Step 5 - Pour all your meat in and bake 180 degrees for 20 minutes.

ASB Getwise Reflection

Today we had Jayden from ASB who came to talk to us how saving money is very important in our lives. To help us perceive the message that saving money is important Jayden created a game where we were splitted into 5 groups and pretend we went to Fiji. We had a budget of $1,800 and was to spend it wisely on before we went to Fiji like our passport, the flights, accommodation, Insurance and the money were going spend at Fiji for things such as food, groceries, and activities (like swimming with the sharks). There were a range of choices for some of the subjects such as flights had two prices. One price was $200 where you are in a seat that's uncomfortable or a flight for $700 where you have luxury seat and also food ordered to you. Our group (which was group 3) decided to take the cheaper options than the expensive which was a good idea. At the end we were happy because we cam 2nd.

Food Tech Reflection

Today was our 5th session of food tech with Mrs Tuipolotu (cooking teacher). We were really excited because this was our second time cooking it and we know how delicious the muffins are. We followed the 3 instructions that were compulsory which is follow the instructions, correctly measure the ingredients and being able to read the ingredients properly. I worked with Jeremiah to cook 12 chocolate chip muffins and we enjoyed cooking together. The most important thing we learnt today is to not under mix or over mix our ingredients because if you over mix the muffins the air in the mixture will decrease and if you under mix the mixture the muffins will look really heavy and dents like a rock. If, next time I was to cook chocolate chips muffin I would change something which is to mix more because in my mixture it showed some flowers which meant I didn't mix my ingredient properly. Thank you to Mrs Tuipolotu for teaching us how to cook Chocolate Chip Muffins.

Chocolate Chip Muffin Recipe:

Step 1 - 1, 1/2 cup of Sugar.Flour

Step 2 - 1/2 cup of sugar

Step 3 - 1/2 cup of oil, 1/2 cup of ,milk

Step 4 - 1/4 cup of cocoa, chocolate chips

Step 5 - 1 teaspoon of vanilla essence

Step 6 - 1 egg

Step 7 - Mix all ingredients and scoop 1 teaspoons each muffin into muffin tray

Step 8 - Bake 180 degrees for 15 minutes

Tech Reflection

Today was our 5 session of food tech but our first tome cooking a savoury meal with Mrs Tuipolotu (cooking teacher). Today Jeremiah and I baked 12 quiches. Cooking the quiches was pretty easy for me since I've already made them at home. Mrs Tuipolotu taught us how to whisk and also how to prepare all the equipment we need to cook. At the end we took a photo of our master piece and the fun part was enjoying our delicious quiches. Thank you to Mrs Tuipolotu for teaching us how to make quiches.

Steps to cooking Quiches:

Step 1 - Cut the pastry into 12 pieces. Past into muffin tray

Step 2 - Dice Ham + Add ham and cheese into the muffin tray

Step 3 - Whisk 4 eggs with 1/2 cup of milk. Dip in top of ham & cheese. Bake 180 degress for 15 minnutes.

Kiwi Can Reflection

This week was our 5th session of Kiwi Can with Mr Matt and Miss Lily. Kiwi Can is a really supportive guideline group that explore a lot of qualities and values that can make us a better person in the future. Our theme is the same which is Integrity (which means doing the right thing when know one is looking) although we have a new module which is Accountability. Accountability means when someone is responsible for their own actions. At school I can live with accountability by making sure I finish all work that is need to be finished and also bringing my PE on Thursday for Kiwisport and Rugby League training. Our energizer we played was called 'copy me.' For this game Mr Matt had a pile of cards from Ace (1) to Kings. On the whiteboard it had all the card numbers as it was said from Ace (1) to Kings. The game was played when Mr Matt gave us a card for example '9' and then there was a certain task we had to do on the board, such as 10 star jumps in 10 seconds or act like a zombie for 5 seconds. The goal was to see who got the most cards at the end. Our activity today was called 'Green light' which most of us have played before. We were to get into partners and then make a circle. One partner had to be in front of the circle and the other had to be behind. The game was played when Miss Lily says green light which means switch positions. If she says red light the person in front of the circle was to carry his partner. If Miss Lily says yellow light we were to sit on our partners lap and if she says Fruit Salad the person behind of the circle was to power walk behind the circle. The goal was to not be the last person to get back to your position.

Kiwi Can Reflection

Today at Kiwi Can we were revisiting our theme and topic. Our theme for this term is integrity which means doing the right thing when we know no one is looking. Our topic for this term is Making Good Choices. First we talked about how we can show good choices in our class and in our community. I said that I can show good choices in my class by helping my classmates if they are stuck in any situation and not playing games during learning time. We also discussed about how making bad choices have consequences. For example if you fight someone at school the consequence will probably be getting expelled or getting growled at. For our activity today we played a game called hand soccer. This is similar to soccer but instead you use your hand. This was a really enjoyable and competitive game. At the end we were given points for showing the 5 Kiwi Can values which is Respect, Encouragement, Positive Attitude, Participation and Teamwork. The points were scored out of 5 and at the end we got 23 points. I think for next time we need show more positive attitude towards our Kiwi Can tutors and to our teacher.
