Summer Learning Journey - Week 2 - Day 4 - Bonus Activity

For this Summer Learning Journey I had to complete a story about working as a nurse on a large medical large ship in War. I have to write at least 8-10 sentences to completed the story.

One day you are walking along the deck of the ship when you hear a loud bang. You start to run as you see smoke coming from the far end of the ship. You run towards the room where your patients are waiting to receive treatment from the doctor. Just as you arrive at the door to their room you hear another loud bang and you.....

One day you are walking along the deck of the ship when you hear a loud bang. You start to run as you see smoke coming from the far end of the ship. You run towards the room where your patients are waiting to receive treatment from the doctor. Just as you arrive at the door to their room you hear another loud bang and you scream. You are running to get help from other nurses but suddenly you hear a double bang. You scream as loud as a girl is happy on christmas day "someone help please". You see two of your other nurse friends running rapidly towards you like rhinos. Your friends and you quickly run to a safety spot. You suddenly hear a patient screaming "help please". You and your two nurse friends try get to the other side to help the patient. As you and your friends get to the room your patient is gone. You panick and fall to the ground. Suddenly you hear a bang noise from the room next to you. You and your friends quickly run to the next room and all you can see is fire on the patients bed. You and your nurse buddies try to smother the fire with a sheet. Luckily the fire stops and you and you friends are safe from the fire.

Summer Learning Journey - Week 2 - Day 4 - Activity 2

For this Summer Learning Journey I have completed Actvitiy 2, Day 4 for Week 2. For this activity I had to go on this link to find a list of VC winners from World War 2.VC means Victoria Cross. VC is a special medal awarded to those mens who participated in World War 2 and did unique things during the War. I decided to choose a men name James Allen Ward. James Ward was the first New Zealander airman to win the VC medal. Ward joined the the RNZAF in July 1940. I have learnt that James Ward was born in Wanganui where he was educated at Wanganui Technical College. James Ward was awarded his VC medal because of his braveness. Jame Wards Vickers Wellington bomber was set on fire by an enemy fighter plane. Ward decided to climb out of the plane and onto the burning wing and tryed to smother the fire, but unfortanetly he couldn't block the leaking petrol pipe. I think James Ward was a brave New Zealander airman. Image result

Summer Learning Journey - Week 2 - Day 3 - Bonus Activity

For one of the Summer Learning Journey activities I had to imagine that I was able to travel back to time to visit a family in the 1930s. On my blog I had to tell what special gifts or treats I would bring to the families.

For me I would like to bring ferrero rocher chocolate, bags of skittle lolies, fruits, clothes, shoes, and board games for the childrends.

Summer Learning Journey - Week 2 - Day 3 - Activity 2

Today for the Summer Learning Journey I have completed activity 2 for day 3, week 2. For this activity I had to imagine that I was alive in the 1930s. What could you have done to help these families? On my blog I had to list three different ways that I could raise funds for families to help them buy food and clothing. I had to be creative as I can with my fundraising ideas!

First Idea - Car Wash - Ask my friends or families if I could wash their car

Second Idea - Dance Performance - I could do a dance perfomance in a family gathering (like family reunion)

Third Idea - Food eating competetion - I could race other people at eating fast food

Summer Learning Journey - Week 2 - Day 2 - Bonus Activity

For this Summer Learning Journey activity I had to imagine if I was one of the members of the flight crew that was flying from Australia to New Zealand. I also had to write a poem of how I would feel after landing in Christchurch. I think I would be feeling happy and relieved because a lot of

Lanidng with a lot of excitement in Christchurch

Smiling with a lot of happiness wearing my JP merch

Gaining the shyniss of the people crownding us

There will be a lot of things to discuss

Shaking peoples hands with a smile on my face

Finally we have landed from out of space

Summer Learning Journey - Week 2 - Day 2 - Activity 2

For the Summer Learning Journey activity I have completed activity 2 for Day 2, Week 2. For this activity I had to rate an 'Art Deco' art piece out of 5 stars. I would give this art piece a 2 because I dont like how the character is drawn and I don't know what shes sitting in. If there were more detailI would give it a higher rating (like 4).

Summer Learning Journey - Week 2 - Day 2 - Activity 1

For the Summe Learning Journey activity I had to watch a movie trailer called Gold Rush. After we had watch the trailer we had to write what we think about the movie. This movie contains no dialog. We also have write if we would enjoy watching a silent film.

In the trailer it shows a lot of characters and each character has its own unqie role. I think the movie is about these unique characters going on adventures and chasing dreams. I wouldnt watch this movie because the quality is terrible. I dont think I could watch a whole video with no dialog.

Summer Learning Journey - Week 2 - Day 1 - Activity 2

For the Summer Learning activity I leanrt that women in Saudi Arabia weren't allowed to vote until 2015. I think that it is unfair for women because womens opinion matters and they a very affective to others. Hopefully in the future everyone has equall rights. For example womens should get paid the same amount as men. Image result for equal rights

Summer Learning Journey - Week 2 - Day 1 - Bonus Activity

Today for the Summer Learning journey I have completed the Bonus Activity for Day 1, Week 2. For the Bonus Activity I had to read the 'In Flanders Fields' poem which was written by John McCrae. After reading it I had to I had to give my oponion if I like it and how it makes me feel. I really liked this poem because it Ryhmed and when I read it out it sound amazing. As I was reading the second paragraph I felt a bit sad but I think this a very proud and amazed poem.
Upper body of a man in a soldier's uniform. He has short dark hair parted in the middle and maintains a neutral expression.
In Flanders Fields

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
        In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
        In Flanders fields.

Summer Learning Journey - Week 1 - Day 4 - Activity 1

Today for the Summer Learning Journey I have completed activity 1 for Day 4, Week 1. For this activity I had to to use google to research traditional Maori Waiata. Christmas Shoe Box In New Zealand

Today LS2 were discussing about Christmas Shoe Box NZ. Christmas Shoe box N.Z. is an organisation that people volunteer to make an unlucky and lonely child in New Zealand happy on Christmas day. Christmas is not about who has the most presents or most expensive things it means giving to others and caring for them. Christmas Shoe Box NZ is here for a purpose and this purpose is to make a child in New Zealand feel notable and loved. There a kids around the world who don't have anything and this is why people are giving. A two dollar coloring book would make a child smile and happy. The children who receives presents from other will feel loved and it makes them feel delighted. Jeremiah and I have made a DLO about Christmas Shoe Box N.Z. The links above shows you a DLO showing the gifts we would give kids in other countries. The other link is a video about Christmas Shoe Box in New Zealand.

The Kapa Hapa Group performed and the visitors were really proud of their performance. Daniel, Mele and I made a little speech about how we have participated in the Summer/Winter Learning Journey. I have been involved in the Summer/Winter Learning Journey for two years now and I think its a really awesome and helpful programme to me. It helps a lot with my reading and I am looking foward to the next Summer Learning Journey. After the special visit everyone (including the visitors) had a free lunch proudly donated from NEXT Foundation. The lunch very delicious especially the sandwich. The video above shows Daniel (Our Manaikalani Leader) showcasing how Panmure Bridge is a digital school and how we are part of the Summer/Winter Learning Journey.

Christmas in South Africa - Screencastify

This week LS2 is learning about how to work as a team and how to work collaboratively. We discussed about different countries who celebrate Christmas. We were spilited into groups and had to choose a country that we would like to research about Christmas. We decided to research about Christmas in South Africa. We learnt a lot of new things about how people celebrate Christmas in different ways. We also learnt that Geseende Kersfees means Merry Christmas in South Africa. The thing we found interesting was that people in South Africa eat turkey and duck for Christmas meals. Above shows you our DLO about Christmas in South Africa and we made a screencastify to record our thinking about Christmas in South Africa.

Year 7 Leadership Speeches

Manaikalani Speech 2017

Greetings everyone, my name is Ofa and I am a candidate for the role of the 2018 Manaiakalani leader. Being a school leader doesn’t mean being in charge, it means showing leadership and other key traits which I can show as being manaikalani leader. I will be able to speak confidently, be a role model, show leadership and more. I have approximately 600 blog posts and will be sure to post more as time goes on. I think a leader has to have at least a badge to show pride for themselves. I have received my Confidence, Attitude, Respect, and Excellence and Innovation silver badges. I wear these badges together with my uniform to show pride in myself and how I can be a good role model to other students. A goal that is set for me next year is to have all of my Gold CARE Award badges. I think this goal will be achieved at the end of the year if I put a lot of effort into it. In class I am expected to post at least five blog post a week. Believe me or not, I have done more than five posts a week. I think I should be the Manaiakalani leader because I always participate in the holiday reading challenges. In the Winter Learning Journey and the Summer Learning Journey I came third. I comment on other students blogs not just students in our school but students from Paihia School, Karoro School and Grey Main School who we are quadblogging with. I give them very thoughtful and supportive comments about their work. I think a Manaiakalani Leader needs this skill. Being a leader is when you have to show the school CARE values. I show a lot of confidence in sharing my learning with other people, I also show good attitude and respect towards my teachers, students and visitors. I also show excellence in my work. I collaborate with others a lot and also participate in group learning. I manage to be on task and to always finish and blog my work I have been set for the day. When I’m working in a group I  motivate others to keep them on task as well. Having this position will be a huge privilege since I have all the great skills needed for a Manaiakalani leader. I am ready to take this position and it’s a role I will make everyone in this school proud including visitors. I know I’m not perfect but I promise you I will make the best Manaiakalani leader for Panmure Bridge School!

Today as part of the year 7 leadership we had our speeches to see who would be students leader for 2018. There were speeches for head boy and head girl, sports leaders and manaikalani leaders. As you can see I was going for manaikalani leader. I was nervous at start but when I go up to speak I build my confident. The thing I was good at was my eye contact.

Maths Challenges

As part as Christmas today for maths Ms Kirkpatrick decided to set a maths challenge for LS2. We worked in partners for one of our maths challenges and I worked with Miki for the holiday problems. We had to solve all 4 problems. After that we had to choose one problem to explain how we solve it out. We decided to explain how we worked out number 3.

This is how we work it out.
The question asked us how much money did you spend on Molli and Mary. So that basically asks us to add the money we spend on Molli and Mary.
Molli = $24
Mary = $18
add $24 + 18 = $42
This how Miki and I came up with the answer to problem 3.

Gold CARE Award - Respect

Today LS2 is focusing on their CARE Awards since we are on leadership. The DLO above shows you one of my gold respect task. For this task I had to write a thank you letter to a teacher or other staff member. I have wrote my thank you letter to our sport teacher Mr Ogilvie. He has done a lot of things to help and support P.B.S in sports activities. He prepared all the activities for our athletics day and he did a great job. In my thank you letter I have thanked him with the all the awesome things hes done to our sports in P.B.S

Google Logo Game

As part of our self management we played the Google Logo Game. In this game I have used resilience. I didn't quit I tried my best to go to the next level. For this game I had to use codes so that the bunny (character) is able to eat all the carrots that is set for him. After finishing that level you go to a more challenging level that has more carrots.

Year 7 Leadership - Team Work

As part of the year 7 leadership we were discussing in groups about team work. We took photos of how we can't show team work and how we can show team work. The DLO above shows you how we show team work in Panmure Bridge School. The description below explains what the photos means. In our photos we showed how we can lead by example. I learnt that team work is when you are in a group with other people working well together as a team. This means everyone in your group has to participate.

Tech Reflection 2017

Digi Tech
 Graphics
Food Tech
It has come to an end of the tech for 2017. We have finished our rotations for this year. For the year 7 we had three rotations. First we had graphics with Mrs Ferguson. We planned ideas for making jewelry. It was exciting drawing the elements we wanted on our jewelry. I was planning to make my jewelry for Mrs Anderson. I found out that she liked handbags so I decided to draw a handbag for my jewelry. The fun part about design with Mrs Ferguson was making fidget spinners. During this rotation I learnt how to use the laser cutter and the 3D printer works. I have also learnt the different kinds of jewelry like watches, bracelets, earrings etc. The year 7 second rotation was digital tech with Mrs Anderson. For digi tech we made an animation on scratch about healthy living in the Tamaki Community. In my animation it shows someone exercising and why its good to exercise. The fun part about using scratch was searching through all the different characters in scratch. Our last rotation was cooking with Mrs Heka. Cooking was the best out of all because we go to cook amazing and delicious dishes. In our first session we made Oreo Milkshake. I think this was my second best thing I made in food tech. My favorite food I made with Mrs Heka was Pancakes with Ice Cream. During this tech time I have learnt a lot of things especially in digi tech. I learnt what how to use scratch and how to edit things on scratch. I would like to say a big thank you to Mrs Ferguson for her hard effort in teaching us how to use the 3D printer, Mr Anderson for teaching us how to use scratch and Mrs Heka for tutoring us on how to cook delicious food.
