The Highwayman|Simile & Metaphor

This week for reading Mrs Anderson's group have been focusing on the poem, the Highwayman. The Highwayman was set in the 18th century (1700's) and was written Alfred Noyes. For today's task we were to make a DLO explaining what a similie and a metaphor is. We were also to put examples of simile and metaphors from the poem. An example of a similie from the Highwayman poem is: Down like a dog on the highwayman. I know this is a similie because it has the word like. A similie is a statement comparing someone or an object with another which includes the words 'as' or 'like'.
