The Modern and Ancient Athletes Diet - Olympics

This term for Inquiry we are focusing on Ancient Olympics. There are four different groups which have four different topics which includes: Diet , Training, Ancient/Modern Olympics, and Hauora. I'm in the diet group and our first challenge was to find the science definitions of Fat, Carbohydrate, Protein, and Vitamins  Minerals and Energy and to also put pictures. We didn't do energy because energy comes from Carbohydrate (Fact) . When we were choosing picture we didn't just get any picture we respect the people who took the picture by attributing the images and also pressing search tools and clicking on labeled for reuse . When you attribute images you have to have the link of the website you got the photo from, who took the photo, and the licence to see if you got permission to use the photo. I've learnt that Protein gains muscles and and organs like the heart, lungs and also the stomach. I've also learnt that there are two type of carbohydrate which are, simple and complex.  

Using A Place Value House

Today for maths my group Wakatipu are focusing on using a Place Value House to solve equations. For this task We had to answer three questions which included: What is a place value, How does it work, and How you use it to solve problems. We also had to explain how to solve equations by using the Place Value House. I learnt that when you add and multiply it goes bigger and it moves to the left of the Place Value House and if it is subtracted it moves to the Right of the Place Value House.

LI: We are learning to find most important (main) idea in a text.

LI: To find related words in a text.

Today for Reading Ruapehu group had to read a text called Neighborhood Niggles. After reading the text we talked about finding the most important/main idea in a text for example if it was the The Three Little Pigs the main Idea would about three little pigs building their own house made out of different materials which included: Sticks, Straws, and Bricks. After that we listed words from the text that we were unsure or struggled on. I learnt what Suitable means. It means Appropriate for the purpose for example wearing a singlet is more suitable then wearing a jumper when it is summer.

Today for maths I played a maths game called Prototec. For this game there are alot of equations which includes numbers up to one thousands, Addition to 20, Subtraction 20, and multiplication and division from 2 to 10. The easiest one for me was Addition to 20 and Multiplication and division from 2 to 10. I think I need to work on subtracting big but I think I can do it.

Short Summary About What The  Video Was About:

This short video was about two random cartoon characters named Tom and Vilnius who has just meet. They got along well with each other. They high five each other and made a hand shake.

Today for the Winter Learning Journey Challenge I did one of the following activities. For this activity I had to watch the last Tom and Vilnius video which was Episode#1. After watching the video I had to summarise what happened in the film. I really liked this video because it shows confident and friendships leadership.

Today I did one of the Winter Learning Journey Challenge activities. For this activity I had to watch a video called Be The Inspiration which the New Zealand Olympic Team has created. After watching the video I had to rate the video very bad movie, bad movie, okay movie, good, movie, and very good movie. As you can see I had highlighted good movie red. After rating the video I had to write down what I like about the video and what I didn't like about the video.

Winter Learning Journey - Olympic Athelets

Today I did the Winter Learning Journey Challenge. For this activity I had to pick one of three athelets which included: Andrea Kilday (Taekawado), Stuart Farquhar (Javelin throwing), and Lauren Boyle (Swimmer) who I had choosen. After choosing one of these three athelets I had to write down why I would meet them.

Beginning:  The beginning is when three pretty girls walked passed and they saw Tom and Vilnius on top of the cliff they laughed and waved at both of them and then the three girls decided to take photos of Tom and Vilnius.

Middle:  During taking a few pictures the three girls told Tom and Vilnius to move back so they both did and as they moved further back they fell off the cliff and landed on the grass.

End:  From there Tom and Vilnius saw the three girls rowing on  their boat. Tom and Vilnius  followed them and then the three girls, Tom and Vilnius meet each other at a little land where they played and played until the moon came out.

Xtra Info: They celebrated by playing songs on the bridge and dancing.

Today for the Winter Learning Journey Challenge I watched Tom and Vilnius Episode #3. This video was a bit fun and also funny than Tom and Vilnius Episode #2. My task was to watch the video and summarise what happened in the video.

Winter Learning Journey Challenge - Tom and Vilnius - Episode #2

Beginning: Tom and Vilnius wanted somewhere to sleep. First they tried sleeping in a log but the problem was there were too much bugs.

Middle: There had another Idea It was to sleep in a hole in a tree the problem was it had mysterious things inside it so they decided to build a house in the river but it was uncomfortable for them.

End: They both decided to sleep outside of the house and they sleep until morning.

Xtra Info: Tom was holding on  a branch sleeping. Vilnius sleep on a round, big leaf on the water.

Today for the Winter Learning Journey Challenge I did one of the activities. For this activity I had to watch a video called Tom and Vilnius Episode #2. After I had watch the Video I have to summaries the the whole video of what happened in the video.

Winter Learning Journey Challenge - Boxing

This is Boxing. The aim for boxing is to knock your opponent down, stunning him so badly that he cannot stand up again before the referee  counts to ten. In boxing when the referee breaks you from a clinch, you have to take a full step back you cannot hit your opponent that's called ''hitting on the break'' and is illegal in boxing. In boxing If you score a knockdown of your opponent, you must go to the farthest corner while the referee makes the count.

Today for the Winter Learning Journey Challenge. For this activity I had to pick a  sport out of the 28 games in Olympic and write down the aim of the game, the name (Of Course), and two rules.
