Summer Learning Journey - Week 4 - Day 2 - Activity 1

Activity 1: Chasing Great
Over the past 17 years New Zealand has experienced a number of sporting highlights, perhaps none larger than the back-to-back Rugby World Cup victories in 2011 and 2015. In both competitions our national rugby team, the All Blacks, was captained by a man named Richie McCaw. He is arguably one of the best rugby players of all time. A movie called Chasing Great was recently created to document his incredible rugby career.

Please watch the trailer for Chasing Great and read about Richie McCaw online. On your blog tell us three things that you learned about Richie that you did not know beforehand. What else would you like to know about Richie?

What I don't know about Richie McCaw?

1. I didn't know that Richie McCaw was born on the 31th of December 1980.

2. I also didn't know that McCaw was the first All Black to reach 100 caps, and the first rugby union player to win 100 tests.

3. I didn't know he had a movie name Chasing Great.

What else would I like to know about Richie?

1. I want know what his dream job is

  1. Mālō e lelei Ofa,

I also didn't know about this movie and now after seeing the trailer I really want to watch the whole thing. What about you? Furthermore I think that Richie McCaw is not only a great All Black but also a great person and I real inspiration for us all. This is a good post as you managed to add some interesting information about him. Well done!

    Kia kaha,

  2. Hi Ofa
Well done on completing this summer learning journey activity. I had no idea that a movie about Richie McCaw was made. One hundred caps would take a lot of commitment to his team. Keep up the amazing work Ofa.
