Name of Prime Minister: _________Jenny Shipley
Date of Birth: __________________4th of February 1957

Political Party: National Party
Number of Years as Prime Minister: She has served as the the 36th prime minister and has been the prime minister since 1997 to 1999.
Three interesting facts about my chosen Prime Minister:
1. She was the only women to have led the National Party
2. She married a farmer, and began teaching at a primary school name St. Kilda Park which is in Australian.
3. She has a daughter name Anna Shipley.

Today for the Summer Learning Journey I have completed one of the activities for the Summer Learning Journey. For this activity I had choose out of four prime minister that served New Zealand and write a short profile of one of the prime minister. The four prime ministers were Geoffrey Palmer, Mike Moore, Jim Bolger and Jenny Shipley. I decided to choose Jenny Shipley. I had to make a template and write a profile about Jenny Shipley. I learnt that she was the only women to have led the National Party.

  1. Mālō e lelei Ofa,
I found very interesting that she was the only women to led the National Party as I would think they would have more women as party leaders.
I am a bit confused with your 2nd fact, there you mentioned that she began to teach as a primary teacher in Australia, was that after or before she served as a prime minister? I couldn't find this information anywhere.

I was doing some research about Jenny Shipley and I learned that she was the first prime minister to push to change our national flag and use the silver fern on a black background as a possible alternative flag. I personally think that is interesting. What do you think?

In order for you to gain full points in this activity could you clarify my question on fact 2 and let me know?
    Dig in and keep blogging!
    Kia Kaha,
    Patricia
