The Unfinished Drink
This week we read a narrative poem (A poem that tells a story) about a fallen soldier who was in the Machine Gun Battalion force. This poem includes a soldier named La Tour Mollet d"Auvergne (who is known as Ted) who once never returned to drink his beer. The story started when he and fellow mates went to the Waihao Forkes Bar at Waitemata and had their last drink before he went. Then the train signaled the soldiers at 7:20 and he said to the publican to retain his beer as he will be back. On June the 2nd, 1941 he died which meant he never came back to finish his drink. This poem made me feel sad because he lost his life and never came back and I also feel happy because Teds beer is a memorial standing at the Waihao Forkes Bar. He is now remember for his talented actions during World War 2 (1939-1945).
