For the Summer Learning Journey i have completed Activity 2 for Day 3. For this activity I had to use a template to write my own pepeha. A pepeha is a very unique way of of identifying who you are and where you are from. Above is my pepeha. As you cansee I have completed all because those are the ones I dont really know about.

  1. Hi Ofa,

Ruby here from the Summer Learning Journey team!

Great work! It can be really difficult filling in some of the gaps on your pepeha but you've made a really good start, so well done. It might be a good idea to give each section of your pepeha it's own paragraph. That way it will be easier to read for people who are looking at your blog.

For my iwi, I have the Irish (Airiri in Maori) because this is where my family comes from and they are the people I identify with.
For my hapu, I use my last name, Simpson. I use this because they are my immediate family or the people I belong to. The Simpsons' are a 'sub-tribe' of my extended family.
For my marae, I use the name of my church. Marae can be loosely translated to 'meeting place'. Is there a meeting place where you gather with your family that you could use here?

Have a go with those ideas!
    Cheers,
    Ruby.

  2. Hello Ofa
Great job on completing this summer learning journey activity. You made a great effort - I also found it hard to complete the pepeha. Keep up the amazing work Ofa!
